Blair always had a passion for multimedia and motion graphics.
During his school years he was a keen skateboarder and would create, edit, and post videos online.
His interest led him to completing a Bachelor of Multimedia (Business Marketing) at Swinburne University.
After graduating Blair worked in Bendigo for WIN TV and then moved to Hobart working with the news team, capturing, and editing news stories and also creating TV commercials. He also worked on TV commercials in Sydney for Universal Music including ads for So Fresh CDs, remember them?.
His advice for fellow younger alumni pursuing this industry is to ‘look for job prospects in regional areas who are more likely to offer a graduate the opportunity.’
To continually develop and having an interest in 3D Animation, Blair completed a Cinema 4D course and won best animation in the ReelOzIndi Film Festival Award in 2016 for his animation Dog & Robot.
He felt that the ‘creation of 3D animation aligned with his skills of motion graphics and the diversifying of multimedia within the social media and streaming spaces.’
With the rise in consumer drones around this time, Blair found a new passion that led him to attaining his Remote Pilots License and a new role with C3X capturing construction projects. This would involve flyovers of projects under construction. Timelapse was another aspect of the work and often involved installations of cameras and solar panels on the rooftops of buildings in the Melbourne CBD, an amazing and unique experience.
More recently, Blair has moved to Adelaide and is passionate about his current role, Video Producer, and drone operator at Airspeeder, the world’s first racing car series for hydrogen-electric flying cars. Blair leads a team to capture the racing action from the air.
With esports taking the world by storm, especially overseas, and drone racing being an exciting new sport, Airspeeder plans to combine these in a scaled-up race with pilots onboard that will come from FPV drone racing, esports and traditional motorsport. Blair commented his ‘videography/drone skills capture racing in an exciting way’. The development, testing and racing are shown in an Airspeeder TV series on Fox Sports and Kayo, aswell as social media with engaging content for investors and partners.
As eVTOL (Electric Vertical Take-off and Landing) air taxis, and flying car races are a brand new and unproven offering there are notable challenges in the industry. Some of which include, finding a host city to hold races, land and air restrictions, physical markings for the area and minimal infrastructure available. However, Blair is invested and confident in Airspeeder and the wider eVTOL industry’s future.
From a media perceptive, Blair hopes to continue to lead teams to capture aerial footage. His ambition is to develop and create livestreams and augmented reality tracks to enable Airspeeder racing to be accessible to more fans. In the long term, he hopes to go overseas and be onsite to capture the racing action around the world.
We wish Blair all the best in his future endeavors.
