The opening of the Sports and Aquatic Centre.

We were delighted to have former Ivanhoe Grammar School student and Australian Paralympic swimmer, Sam Bramham OAM officially launch Ivanhoe Grammar School’s new multi-level Sports & Aquatic Centre this morning.

Built on the site of the old pool, the new Sports & Aquatic Centre has exceeded everyone’s expectations.

Principal Gerard Foley said the facility was constructed by Building Engineering and designed by architects Mclldowie Partners.

‘The opening of the Sports and Aquatic Centre by Sam Bramham (Class of 2007) OAM, marks a significant event in the history of the school. The largest capital works project this School has ever undertaken. State of the art facilities encourages students and staff to be active and undertake physical activity in a number of inviting spaces including the swimming pool, dance/aerobics studios, gymnasium and courts facilitating basketball, badminton, volleyball and netball,’ he said.

This eco-friendly, sustainable complex incorporates high performance glass to minimise energy consumption and solar panels on the roof that add 95kw to the already 800kw generated by the school, making Ivanhoe Grammar School one of the leading schools in Australia for solar power use.

Not only are our current cohort of students enjoying the outstanding facilities, but we know that the Sports & Aquatic Centre will benefit many generations to come.
