Two gold medals, two world records and a remarkable Commonwealth Games campaign have cemented Tara Neyland (’11) as one of Australia’s leading Para-cyclists.
Competing for Australia at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, Tara delivered a string of exceptional performances that saw her stand atop the podium twice and rewrite the record books in the process.
In the Women’s C4 4000m Individual Pursuit, Tara produced a world-record ride of 4:49.648 during qualifying, becoming the first cyclist at the Games to set a new world benchmark. She then backed up that performance in the final to claim gold, completing a memorable debut on the Commonwealth stage.
Days later, Tara returned to competition in the Women’s C4-C5 1km Time Trial and again delivered a record-breaking performance. Clocking 1:09.667, she lowered her own world record and secured a second gold medal for Australia.
To break a world record is an extraordinary achievement. To establish a world record and then better it within the same Games is a feat reserved for the very best. Tara’s Glasgow campaign showcased resilience, consistency and world-class talent, further strengthening her reputation as one of Australia’s premier Para-cyclists.
