Professor Stephen Harrap ‘72

Stephen completed a medical degree at the University of Melbourne and later a PhD and fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians. Stephen has enjoyed an impressive career, spanning over 30 years, focusing on his interests in the integration of Physiology and Genetics to understand common disease with an emphasis on cardiovascular conditions. In 1990, he founded the Victorian Family Heart Study, an internationally recognised landmark study in genetics. He is currently Professor and Head of the Department of Physiology at the University of Melbourne, a position he has held since 1995.
