Mr John Harper OBE ’28 †

John completed an arts degree in English, followed by a law degree at Melbourne University. He joined the legal firm of Arthur Robinson & Co of which he became Senior Partner, and this led to his appointment as Director on the boards of several public companies, including North Broken Hill Holdings Ltd where he was Deputy Chairman. He had a continuing association with education, including a term as Foundation President of the Council of Yarra Valley Anglican School. His 40-year association with the Council for Legal Education was recognised by the awarding of an Order of the British Empire in 1967. At the initiation of the Rev. Sydney Buckley he agreed to write a history of the school, which resulted in the publication of “What Matter I” to coincide with the school’s 50th Anniversary. Fidelis Usque ad Mortem.
