Courtney takes on the circuit

Motor racing has a ‘new kid on the block’ and it’s an IGS alumni!

Courtney Prince ’19 is currently competing in the Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge Australia where all competitors race a Porsche 911 GT3.

2020 was her first season, unfortunately, only two rounds were completed due to COVID-19 restrictions. Nevertheless, Courtney managed to secure 3rd place in her first event in a Porsche and was sitting in 4th place overall before the season was suspended. The sprint challenge season is held all over Australia and includes 27 drivers with Courtney one of two female drivers. Courtney commented to OIGA HQ that her ambition is to either ‘head overseas and become a Porsche factory driver in Europe, or be a full-time Supercars driver here in Australia’ .

‘I had raced Formula Ford for three seasons in the National series before Porsche. I started in go karts when I was 7 till I was 15 when I started to race Formula Ford. I had always been into anything that went fast like motorbikes since I was really young, which eventuated into finally convincing Dad to buy a go kart!’

We wish Courtney all the best for this season and look forward to follow her progress.
