Led strongly by Ivanhoe’s Swimming Captains, Eliza, Emily and Matthew, the School Swim Team competed in the AGSV Swimming Championships at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatics Centre last Friday night.
The competition was hard-fought, with multiple lead changes from competing schools. Spurred on by the passionate support of the Ivy Army, many swimmers set personal best times, and some long-standing AGSV records were smashed.
Every place counted and was hard-earned. Our Boys’ team swam their hearts out and improved from last year, moving from fourth place to third. For our Girls’ team, it came down to a thrilling finish. Their result only clinched in the very last race, where they sensationally cemented themselves as AGSV Premiers for 2025 with a half-point victory over a gallant Mentone. This is an outstanding accomplishment, and the school takes great pride in the team’s success.
